Shri Thanedar - Belgaum to Michigan

The story of Shri Thanedar could well be the plot of a Bollywood movie. His rise from poverty in Belgaum to becoming a successful entrepreneur in Michigan and a U.S. Congressman is nothing short of a fairytale. A Lesson for Students: Shri was born in 1955 in Chikodi, near Belgaum. He worked odd jobs to support his family and scored only 55% in his Std-10 exams . Yet, he never let those numbers define his future. After earning a Bachelor's in Chemistry, he completed his Masters at the University of Bombay and had a brief stint as a scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) .
