Liberal Arts - Choose your subject combination





Liberal Arts has turned out to be one of the popular and emergent option among Indian Students when it comes to higher education. Apart from being a flexible curriculum, it also offers students a chance to study subjects that one would normally not get a chance to study together.

Liberal Arts study sounds like an answer to many problems students face with respect to their subject choices and career. 


Some universities in India offering undergraduate programs in Liberal Arts.


Following five universities in India offer undergraduate programs in Liberal Arts:


1) Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts, Pune.


Admission Procedure: Admission is done in two ways


Option A – candidates have to appear for the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) or Option B – Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT). Candidates need to first meet the eligibility criteria as set by SSLA. Eligible candidates will have to register and apply. Once the application process is completed, candidates will have to appear for the SET exam. The SET qualifiers are called for the second round of admissions, which is the personal interview and writing ability test.

Entrance Test: SET (Registration in January/Result declaration in July.

Personal Interview and Written Ability Test (PIWAT) in August.

Total questions 60

a) 16 MCQs on quantitative aptitude

b) 12 MCQs on analytical and logical reasoning

c) 16 MCQs on general english

d) 16 MCQs on general awareness

One mark is given for each correct answer and there is no negative marking.

Mode: Online

Duration: 60 minutes.

 

2) Christ University – Liberal Arts Course, Bengaluru


Entrance: CUET online.

The last paper vary as per admission stream. Total questions 120, with each question carrying 1 mark for the right answer and a negative 0.25 mark for the wrong answer.  Entrance test is followed by micro presentation and personal interview.

Duration: 90 min.

 

3) Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities (OP Jindal Global University):


Admission Process: Apply online. Eligible candidates will advance to the second round where they will have to appear for an interview or give the Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test (JSAT). Candidates who clear round 2 will receive a provisional offer of admission.

The JSAT is an MCQ test with 120 questions.

a) English Verbal Ability (40 Questions)

b) Logical Reasoning (40 Questions)

c) Quantitative Skills (40 Questions)

Duration: 120 min.

 

 

4) NMIMS University - Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts


Admission Process: Students are required to apply for admission. Once the student has successfully applied, the candidate has to appear for the NMIMS-NPAT (Admission Test), which is mandatory for admission. Followed by NMIMS-NPAT, the candidate has to appear for another entrance test (Level I), where the candidate is judged on their proficiency in English, Reasoning & General Intelligence, Quantitative & Numerical Ability. Once merit list is declared and students make the list, he/she will have to appear for the Level II test i.e. personal interaction and written test. Another merit list will be released and students who make the list are invited for admission.

 

5) MIT-WPU School of Liberal Arts, Pune:


Eligibility:

A. Maharashtra candidates

50% in 10+2 /HSC with English subject (OR)

50% in 3 Years Diploma recognized by government competent authority (OR)

Passed its equivalent examination with 50% Marks in aggregate (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only)

B. Non-Maharashtra candidates

50% in 10+2 / HSC with English subject (OR)

50% in three years engineering diploma recognized by government competent authority (or) passed its equivalent examination with 50% Marks in aggregate.

C. Foreign Nationals / NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries

50% in 10+2 /HSC examination with english subject with 50% marks in aggregate (or) its equivalent examination in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate.

 

Selection criteria:

Test of 100 marks

a) Psychometric Assessment

b) Statement of purpose - 50 marks

c) Group Discussion - 50 marks
