Ajaypal Singh Banga , an Indian-born American, currently serves as the President of the World Bank Group . From the cantonment of Khadki in Pune to the helm of global finance, his journey is a masterclass in ambition and adaptability. The story of Shri Thanedar could well be the plot of a Bollywood movie. His rise from poverty in Belgaum to becoming a successful entrepreneur in Michigan and a U.S. Congressman is nothing short of a fairytale. A Lesson for Students: Shri was born in 1955 in Chikodi, near Belgaum. He worked odd jobs to support his family and scored only 55% in his Std-10 exams .
