Born in 1977 and raised in a middle-class family in Delhi, Taneja’s journey is a symbol of excellence. He doesn’t hold an Ivy-League degree; instead, his success is built on a methodical mind, a love for numbers, and a disciplined approach to financial leadership.
He earned his B.Com from Delhi University in 1999 and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India. Later, he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the U.S. in 2006. After spending 17 years honing his skills at PwC, he joined SolarCity in 2016, which eventually merged with Tesla in 2017.
At Tesla, Taneja’s ascent was rapid. Starting as an Assistant Corporate Controller, he moved through roles as Chief Accounting Officer before being named Chief Financial Officer in August 2023. Today, he also serves as a director for Tesla India Motors and Energy, playing a vital role in the company's expansion into the Indian market.
